Situation Summary
On February 28, 2026, the United States and Israel carried out a joint military operation against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
According to official statements, the attack was presented as a response to what the two countries described as the Islamic Republic’s destabilizing and aggressive policies. These included its nuclear program, the development of ballistic missiles, interference in regional stability, and the violent suppression of its own population.
Rojhelat Kurdistan (Iranian Kurdistan) has also become a significant part of the unfolding situation. Positions affiliated with the Iranian government were reportedly targeted by U.S. and Israeli strikes.
At the same time, political parties in Iranian Kurdistan announced the formation of a coalition. The coalition declared its readiness to take part in the administration of Rojhelat Kurdistan in a post–Islamic Republic context.
